WHITNEY FROST AKA MADAME MASQUE

Now, I know Hawkguy has made this bitchin’ babe the next in thing, but I’mma need y’all to take a step back for a minute, ‘kay? Coz I’m about to school all’a y’all in the cold hard facts about why this masked femme fatale is the baddest bitch on two sexy legs.

Giulietta Kristina Nefaria was born to Count Nefaria and his wife in Italy. Her mother died giving birth and her father never forgave her for it. He didn’t want her because she wasn’t a boy, and so gave her to his American lawyer, Byron Frost and his wife. She became Whitney Frost; the wealthy heiress of the most prominent Wall Street lawyer and fiancée to a young, up-and-coming political, Roger Vane.

Basically on her eighteenth birthday, her real father came knocking on her door. He was ready to take her back and teach her the ways of his crime cartel, The Maggia. After her fiancé left her and Whitney spent months by the phone, she finally gave in and went to live with her father in Italy. He trained her to be a killing and money making machine, and when she was ready, he sent her after the big money: Stark Industries.

Whitney seduced SHIELD-Stark liaison Jasper Sitwell to get close to Tony and his tech. All was going according to plan, but Big M suddenly had a change of heart. She called off the attack on Stark Industries and managed to escape just in the nick of time, though not without karma bitch-slapping her in the face. Literally. The helicopter she fled in crashed, and her face was permanently scarred. Mordecai Midas found her washed up on a beach and got his personal doctors to do what they could, but they couldn’t fix her face. So Midas gave her a 24 karat gold mask to hide her face instead.

Whitney and Tony Stark crossed paths again, and after a series of tension-filled romantic encounters, they finally banged and got together- though not before Jasper pointed a gun to Whitney’s head, of course.

Tragedy struck when Whit’s daddy got sick, and forced Tony to heal him. Shit went down, and somewhere in the middle Tony accidentally crushed her dad. Grief-stricken, Whitney fled, never to be seen again. Or at least until she teamed up with Obediah Stane and switched her brain with Beth Cabe’s.

Then shit got weird; she cloned herself, they died, then one of them escaped and joined the Avengers for a lil while… The 90’s were a bad time for everyone.

Badda-bing, badda-boom, the Civil War happened and Whitney joined forces with The Hood and his gang. She was totally badass; the brains behind the operation on the most part. When shit hit the fan she asked her daddy (who wasn’t dead after all) for help. He asked for money instead. What a gr8 dad. The Avenger’s caught up with them and put them in jail, presumably. Then The Hood got out and got an Infinity Gem and healed her face. Not cool, guy.

She made an appearance in Bendis’ Moon Knight and Fraction’s Hawkguy. She was a complete badass in both. Here’s a reading list:

Invincible Iron Man (Selected, important issues, including her origins as Big M and as Madame Masque. The most important romance of her life and the resulting tragedy which left her mentally scarred, as well as physically)
Avengers v3 #31-#34 (Whitney’s cloning thing explained, and her team-up with the Avengers to help take down her father. Heartfelt reunion with her and Tony)
New Avengers (Five issues of the first volume, Whitney can be seen gun-totting and ass-kicking)
Moon Knight #10-#12 (Just read it. Total badass)
Hawkeye #04-#05 + Annual (See above)

Seriously, any questions, hit me up. Whitney is my absolute fave and I love her to bits. Even if you wanna fangirl, come at me.
